What is PageRank and how it works?

Internet is big enough (it has almost 50 billion of sites) to get lost in this sea of content. The Page Rank helps exist in this universe.

Obviously we all take for ever to seek information online, find exactly what we want. Internet is large enough (It has almost 50 billion sites or so) to get lost in this sea of content. This is why search engines like Google, Baidu, Ask, AOL, or Yahoo! Bing, develop complex algorithms, or mathematical instructions, telling them its servants how to deal with an assigned task.

Google’s algorithm, the most used search engine in the world, ranked number one in the Alexa index of the most visited websites on the planet, with an estimated 12 billion monthly searches is called PageRank and was designed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, founders of the company, as students of the department of computer science at Stanford. The Fourier transform for images

Thanks to the researchers MIT the field of video and images could soon receive a major technological innovation: the new discovery would speed up the compression of images by applying an algorithm based on Fourier transform. The technique has been developed by researchers Dina Kataba and Piotr Indyki with students Eric Price and Haitham Hassanieh.

The Fourier transform is one of the most important functions of mathematics, and has found great application in computer science: for example, are used to represent the fluctuations of voltage in the wire that connects an MP3 player to a speaker, not to mention the wide use in electronic music and study of audio frequencies. But the two researchers have found a way to apply this function to the images. The technique consists of dividing the signs and trying frequencies scattered but present in each section of the signal: for there is no need to sample the whole image, but only part This technique allows to speed up the processing time up to ten times. Using lasers to encode information in our hard drives

It may be possible to improve the storage of information in our computers through an ingenious device for transferring light energy in a mechanical system. A team of researchers at Yale University, USA, has developed a device to “write” and “read” the information with the laser light. The results of this work, published in Nature Nanotechnology, could reduce the energy consumption of hard drives while making them very reliable.

When we talk about memory and information storage hard drives, the parameters determining the value of new technology are mainly: the stability of stored information, and energy storage density. Many studies seek to develop new devices competitive on these three parameters. The devices developed characters generally have in common. They have the two most stable configurations for encoding information through “0″ or “1″ (binary system). The stability depends of the energy needed to switch the device from one position to another. To be stable, this energy so-called “barrier” should be well above the energy of “noise” so that “noise” can not, by itself, change the information. The device must also have a power source allowing it to switch from one position to another with an error rate of almost zero. Continue reading

Keywords and selection of keywords in SEO

The keywords or keywords they can use to refer to many things, but SEO refers to the words you want to appear in the terms for search engines like Google (the most used at present). The goal is not just appearing by that term but appears in the best position, preferably the first and if it is not possible at least in the top 10 (first 10 positions).

The selection of keywords for the web

For best results it is important to note the website, the industry and do a thorough analysis of why keywords you want it come and viability.

To give us an idea, a graphic design shop in Florida may want to aspire to appear in the top search results on Google for the keyword “design”, however this will be difficult to take time to also be expensive and the results will not be as expected or will not achieve the objective. In this case, being a local store can aspire to a search as “graphic design Florida” or one who believes that identifies the keywords that users want to use to find your page. What should you write a user looking for my store? It is a key question. Continue reading

Chrome, with WebRTC video chat without plugins

WebRTC, Open source technology based on HTML5 and JavaScript languages that allow browsers to perform chat in real time without external plug-ins, has been included in a trial in Google Chrome precisely in developer channel.

Niklas Enbom, a software engineer at Google, said on his blog Wednesday that developing voice and video functionality directly into the browser makes it easier for developers to integrate real-time communication in their applications. Ebom also added that, instead of depending on operating systems and plug-ins, developers can create and manage their applications using some simple JavaScript API and letting the browser do the heavy lifting. Renewable energy: Austria’s largest geothermal power plant

With the drilling start for the Geothermal Centre Aspern in the greater Vienna area, the way is smoothed at the same time for the intensive utilization of the Geothermal. The plant is taken 2014 in operation. Then hydrothermal Geothermal Centre most high-performance with an achievement of 40 megawatts furnishes Austria up to 40,000 dwellings with environmentally friendly district heating out of earth warmth.

The power plant. On the site of the future geothermal Aspern Centre has begun the construction of the drilling site. Around a year experts will drill vertically from here into the depths. The aim of this work bore water-bearing rock layers that are at this point at a depth of 5,000 meters. They are home to those resources, which will supply approximately 40,000 households from 2014 produced with environmentally friendly district heating: thermal water with a temperature of 150 degrees Celsius. Security for future quantum computing in the cloud

Quantum computers, and offers new possibilities in the calculations, it must preserve the privacy of information. A team from the University of Vienna has presented an experimental demonstration of quantum computing ‘blind’, in which the computer known as the input data as output.

It is expected that quantum computers play an important role in the future. Still have not managed to build and it seems that the process will be complicated. It is therefore possible that these machines exist only in certain places, as with today’s supercomputers, and to perform operations that offer, unattainable with normal computers, we have to go to one of these points.

In this case, people who want to perform calculations will have to enter their data into the machine and receive the results, following the current trend of the “cloud”, in which the information is stored and processed in remote central servers. But it may be that both entries and exits are confidential, and that the user not interested to register on the computer. Continue reading

Technology to see, touch and hear at CES 2012

The consumer electronics show CES (Consumer Electronic Show), which was held this week in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA), is considered the event to mark the technological trends of the year. New models of tablets, powerful and lightweight laptops and all kinds of improvements in television, both in substance and in form, have made a fair which closed its doors last Friday with more than 140,000 visitors and 3,100 exhibitors in 167,000 meters square.

CES 2012

The tablets were the star of the devices last year, with manufacturers introducing dozens of models competing on price and features with the iPhone from Apple, which has managed to keep 62% of market share in one of the European country this year, according to IDC. In this edition, the fair has plagued both new tablets as hybrid devices that add keyboard. The most striking developments have come from the hand of televisions, with systems that allow voice control, movement or facial recognition. Without neglecting the 3D (which has not taken off) and trying to reduce the cost of OLED technology, which allows the production of ultrafine TVs and a great intensity of the image. Firefox: protect against deleting cookies

Cookies in themselves are not evil. Cookies store sessions permanently, so you do not constantly on one side must log in or save identifiers for shopping carts or personal settings on a website.

On the other hand, accumulate over time a lot of cookies. Regular Deleting helps in such a case. This saves space and prevents you are persecuted for example of pointless ads throughout the web through it.
