The project investigates technological cooperation Plasticons the development of new systems and biodegradable packaging assets to improve safety and food quality, as explained to Europa Press Francisco Montes, managing director of the Center for Innovation and Food Technology (Citagro) operational center of the Andalusian Institute of Technology (AIT) and participated in its share capital by Unicaja Bank.
The project involves companies with centers in Andalusia or Andalusia, which have “latest technology” as Abello Linde SA Bandesur Alcalá, SL, SL DMCResearch, Derprosa Films, SL, Hight Technology Masterbatches, SL and Plastienvase, Citagro SL and is responsible for managing and coordinating the project, while validating the results of R + D + i individual of some of these companies.
The project aims Plasticons general investigation of the various links in the production of active packaging systems for the development of active packaging systems to help manage and control the degradation reactions that occur in packaged foods, increasing commercial life, ensuring quality and safety of themselves and also constitutes an environmentally sustainable solution for its biodegradability.
Specifically, the project studies the properties of components and new packaging, the interaction between food and packaging systems and designed, taking into account the manufacturing process and simulations of life, also applies techniques for change in the composition of air or gas surrounding the product or its own food through the release of substances in the container, validates the results obtained by testing and industrial testing in food packaging and involves the creation of a group multidisciplinary research and industrial application of the new product produced.
As stated by Montes, food preservation is one of the continuing challenges facing the food industry in providing the consumer foods with a high level of quality and reliability. The perishable nature of many of these foods makes it necessary to ensure certain conditions in the processing, storage and handling them so as to avoid or at least delay the onset of different types of microorganisms that alter or make such food insecure. In this sense, the food industry research with a set of new technologies that respond to increasing demand from consumers for food with flavor more like the fresh and natural, nutritious and easy to handle.
Similarly, the project also aims to contribute to the development of products with the most sustainable management is possible with raw materials which give the biodegradable plastic in nature, i.e., the ability to self-destruct after use, without causing damage to the environment .There are many wholesale plastic bags available in the market today that benefit our environment.
Finally, the managing director of Citagro has been assessed as “exquisite” traceability of Spanish products, which we noted in the ‘crisis of cucumber’ when 48 hours, knew where food came first crossed to bring E.coli bacteria. Although, he noted that the Spanish consumer does not value this process as it does the European consumer.
