Exaggerated fear of microbes and the constant demand for a cleaning “impeccable”, existing in the modern society, has given rise to an endless number of different products, some of which could be dangerous.
The Triclosan is a chemical that is found in soaps, antibacterial, toothpastes, mouthwashes and detergents, among others.
This antibacterial agent has been questioned mainly because of its possible relationship to the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. In addition it was found that the triclosan is not removed in water treatment plants, thus passing contaminate watercourses.
According to researchers at the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), the presence of triclosan in water, preventing photosynthesis of algae in rivers, and therefore its long-term effect could succumb to the aquatic ecosystems.
Furthermore researchers at the University of California at Davis, and the University of Colorado, found a relationship between the presence of triclosan in the body of various animals and malfunction of the heart muscle and other muscles of the body. Also detected hormonal changes caused by this chemical, which are truly unknown long-term effects.
If you think it should be banned or at least controlled the use of triclosan, can work with a campaign that is being carried out in Canada. Thanks for spreading, for the good of all.
